Value of Working for Protection of Finality of Prophethood Aqeedah

English Translation of Urdu article by Maulana Muhammad Yousaf Ludhianvi

Finality of Prophethood in Quran

Allah Subhan-wa Ta’ala (SWT) sent Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) as His final Prophet and bestowed upon him the last of holy books – Quran. The Quran mentions Islam in following words Surah Al-Maeda Verse 3

“This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion AL-ISLAM.”

Allah (SWT) declares about the finality of Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) Prophethood in Surah Al-Ahzab Verse 40 as:

مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمًا

“Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets; and Allah is ever Aware of all things.“

A hundred verses clearly allude to Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) being the last of Prophets and around two hundred and ten hadeeths clearly attest this finality of Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) Prophethood with explicit commentary. So much stress on it is a clear indication of the sensitivity of this issue. The essence and heart of Kalma Tayyeba is to firmly believe in the finality of Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) prophethood. If we take out the issue of finality of Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) Prophethood from Kalma Tayyeba, then the status of Islam as a religion would be either like a body with severed throat or a body where heart has stopped functioning all together. Finality of Prophet hood is the basic and essential issue of Islam and all other issues are concentric around it. The necessity to have so many Verses and Hadeeths on this suject matter was due to the prediction of continual appearance of heretics (Zandiqs). Those who rise against these apostates are described by Allah (SWT) in Surah Al-Maeda Verse 54 as:

“O ye who believe! Whoso of you becometh a renegade from his religion, (know that in his stead) Allah will bring a people whom He loveth and who love Him, humble toward believers, stern toward disbelievers, striving in the way of Allah, and fearing not the blame of any blamer. Such is the grace of Allah which He giveth unto whom He will. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.”

Commentary of Surah Al-Maeda Verse 54

This verse not only prophesize about perfidy of apostasy (fitna-e-irtadad) but also foretells us that Allah will bring forth His own band of special people to fight against these renegades. According to the verse these people will have six (06) distinguishing qualities:

[*] ‘Whom He loveth’

[*] ‘Who love Him’

[*] ‘Humble towards believers’

[*] ‘Stern toward disbelievers’

[*] ‘Striving in the way of Allah’

[*] ‘Fearing not the blame of any blamer’

‘Whom He loveth’

Those will be dearest to Allah. !!

‘Who love Him’

True believers whose every loyalty lie with Allah. A noticeable point is that here quality of being loved by Allah precedes that of loving Allah. This reward is assigned to only those who work against renegades of Islam. !!

‘Humble towards believers’

In spite of their knowledge and great deeds they remain meek and humble towards believers. They are free of all pride. !!

‘Stern toward disbelievers’

They will never be impressed by disbelievers. They will always keep their honor and hold their religious pride.!!

‘Striving in the way of Allah’

These are engaged in the holy war in the way of Allah. This holy war is of three types: One involves monetary donations – to sacrifice your worldly possessions in need. Second is the use of your pen and mental faculties in the way of Allah and never to concede against any falsehood. Third is to sacrifice your own life in the way of Allah.!!

‘Fearing not the blame of any blamer’

Those who strive in the way of Allah, have to face the majority’s reproach and accusations, many call them religious fanatics, others doubt them of having secret political agendas. But they never fear anybody’s blame or reproach and continue their work steadfastly.!!

Their reward ‘Grace of Allah’

Which He bestows upon a select few. Not everybody is deserving of such honor. It is bestowed upon ‘whom He will’. He holds all knowledge. He is aware of all deeds. So he decides to grant the honor as per His liking.!!

When this Verse was ordained nobody knew who is going to get this honor – the Grace of Allah. After the demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) some people reverted to their previous faiths. Few of these converts claimed prophethood.

Topping the list of false prophets was Maseelma who gained control over the areas of Najad and Al-Yamamah.

Sahaba Ikram and Finality of Prophethood

Hazrat Abu Bakar Sadeeq (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala) & Consensus

Hazrat Abu Bakar Sadeeq (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala) could never tolerate this religious mutiny. He consulted all the faithful. The first consensus of Muslim was done. It is the will of Allah to terminate the false prophet and followers. The first battle troops were sent in the leadership of Hazrat Akrama bin Abu Jahel (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala) and the reinforcements under Hazrat Sharjeel bin Hassana (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala). Both armies suffered defeat. Then Hazrat Abu Bakar Sadeeq (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala) sent Hazrat Khalid Bin Walid (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala) for their help. Although it was against the Caliph’s policy to include Ashab Badar (Those who defended in the first war against Islam) in the battle troops but upon the advice of Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala), they were included in troops. A large number of youths including Hufaz and Quraa, religious scholars and esteemed fellows of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) joined the forces. After a great battle, Muslims turned victorious. Out of forty thousand enemy forces, 21 thousand were slaughtered during the war and Maseelma was executed along with.

Battle of Yamama & Number of Martyrs

The total number of martyrs in all the wars and feuds fought in the life of Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) was around 259. And the number of martyrs in a single war to exterminate the false prophet, his followers and atheists was more than 1,200. The martyrs included around 700 Hufaz, Quraas and Ashab Badar. It shows that the sacrifices made by Sahaba Ikaram (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala), friends and fellow to uphold and protect the Finality of Prophethood were much greater than the sacrifices made by them to spread Islam.

The first person to verify this verse was Hazrat Abu Bakar Sadeeq (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala) and his followers. They fought against the false prophet Maseelma and his followers. Allah (SWT) created in the selves of those Muslims an amalgamate of above-mentioned six qualities. Such religious mutinies and conversions will continue in the coming years as predicted. And Allah will continue to bring forth a group of people to fight against those renegades as promised. The people who struggle against these heretics, apostates and converts are the present members of same group whose leader was Hazrat Abu-Bakar Sadiq (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala).

Reward for Working against Qadianis

The struggle against Qadianis (renegades who believe in false prophet Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani) is a certification to attain the six qualities mentioned in Quran. Constant struggle against false prophet Mirza ghulam Ahmad Qadiani and his followers is an essential pre-requisite for anyone who wants to be a verifier of this verse and who wants to be a member of the group formed and led by Hazrat Abu-Bakar Sadeeq (Razi Allah-O-Ta'ala). The Religious efforts to curb this perfidy are the duty of every Muslim and a sure way to attain recommendation by Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) on the day of reckoning.
